🍻 Prost! German Beer & a Kitchen Sink Brew Day at Brian’s

October calls for German beer, and we’re answering. This Saturday, The Social Fermenters are gathering at Brian’s house in Reston for an afternoon of märzens, dunkels, kölsches, and whatever other poorly named German beers you’ve got on hand. And since we can’t hang out at a homebrewer’s house without firing up a kettle, we’ll also be brewing a batch together for next month’s meeting.

⏰ The Details

  • When: Saturday, October 17th at 12:00 PM

  • Where: Brian’s House, Reston (Address sent via email)

  • Who: Everyone! No brewing experience required.

🥨 Style of the Month: German Beers

Bring your best German-style homebrews to share, whether it’s a malty Oktoberfest, a crisp Pilsner, a smoky Rauchbier, or a Hefeweizen you’ve been sitting on since summer. Not brewing right now? No problem. A favorite commercial German beer is just as welcome at the table. Lederhosen optional, but highly encouraged.

đźš° Brew Day: Kitchen Sink Beer

While the German pours are flowing, we’ll be brewing a club batch for our November meeting, where the theme is Kitchen Sink Beers. The idea is simple: you brew using only the ingredients you already have on hand. No shopping trips, no perfect recipe, just creativity and whatever’s in the cabinet.

That means everyone gets a hand in this one. If you’ve got leftover grain, a half-used bag of hops, or some extra yeast hanging around, bring it along and let’s see what we can build together. Whether you’ve brewed a hundred batches or have never seen a mash tun up close, it’s a great chance to jump in, ask questions, and help out.

🍎 Apple Pressing Season

It’s that time of year again! We’re reaching out to Tim Simpkins about his annual fall cider pressing, which usually lands right around now. Keep an eye on your inbox for dates and details once we hear back, and start thinking about what you’d like to ferment with your share of fresh-pressed juice.

đź“… Looking Ahead: November at Dynasty

Mark your calendars for Wednesday, November 11th, when we’ll (most likely) be heading back to our most frequent club host, Dynasty Brewing Co. in Leesburg. That’s when we’ll crack open the Kitchen Sink Beer we brew on Saturday and find out what our collective odds and ends turned into. Final location confirmation to come.

Come hungry, come thirsty, and come ready to brew. See you Saturday at noon!

Cheers,
