The Social Fermenters' newest member, Eggy, hosted the club meeting for December and continued on the tradition of excellent food being a part of our culture. Eggy treated us to some delicious smoked pork for us to enjoy while we brewed his newest beer (name is yet to come), and the club got one of those "too warm for a winter day" type days that made brewing outside a great time.
Keith and Darrel each brought out a couple of bourbon barrel aged beers that they
helped brew, Slava brought out a good attitude and willingness to drink, and Brian brought out three of the Goose Island Bourbon County Stout variants. With Keith and Darrel's beer, we were able to do a really fun vertical of different bourbon barrel aged stouts (and one porter).
We also talked about our meeting plans for 2024, and we will start the new year off by meeting at Dynasty Brewing Ashburn. We do not yet have an exact date set; in an attempt to give our members a chance to "relax" a bit after the holidays, expect it to be the second week of January.
The club hasn't gotten a chance to talk about dues in person (we have really been unlucky in getting a quorum together), but we can expect club dues for 2024 to be $50. With this $50, we will be able to cover the cost of maintaining a website and will look to enter into a couple different of homebrewing competitions. For those of you who haven't been able to get to a meeting as often as you'd like, the membership would be a great way to help the club get an opportunity to get our beers in front of professional judges.
Our January meeting information will go out later this month, but members can plan on meeting at Dynasty Brewing in the second week of January 2024.
Cheers,
